The Medeiros e Almeida Casa-Museum and Foundation is located in the former residence of Antonio Medeiros e Almeida. This unusual, but little-known museum houses an incredible collection of artworks dated from 17th to 20th-century.
The 2000-pieces collection, that contains in total nearly 9000 exhibits, is displayed in 25 rooms and divided into few thematic sections, which are: Watches and Clocks, China Porcelain, Silversmith, Jewelry, Painting, Furniture, Sculpture and Textiles.
For the special interest deserves in particular three rooms, which presents as follow:
The collection of watches dated from the 16th century to the present day. The collection of Chinese porcelain which includes the examples of Han and Qing dynasties, The collection of plate, with two services made by the English silver chaser Paul Storr, Portuguese plate from the 16th to 18th centuries, and the dinner service that once belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte.
