The Príncipe Real Garden is located in the Merces parish, on a hill in the north part of Bairro Alto. It was built in 1859 and dedicated to the first son of Queen Maria II. It is also called as a Franca Borges Garden in homage to the republican journalist of the same name.

In the garden for the special interest deserves: a one-hundred-old cedar tree and the fabulous view over the entire city of Lisbon. Apart from this there are placed also facilities, like rustic tables and children playgrounds, which encourage to spend here a lovely day with family and friends.
