The Museu Árpád Szenes-Vieira da Silva is located in the 18th century building of former Royal Silk Factory (Real Fábrica dos Tecidos da Seda). It was opened in November 1994. The Museum houses an impressive collection of artwork of two great painters: Hungarian Árpád Szenes and his Portuguese wife Maria Helena Vieira da Silva. The Szenes' paintings show mainly the luminous landscapes, while Vieira de Silva was a specialist in the urban motives.
Apart from the permanent exhibitions, which present a great quantity of works of both artists, the Museum organizes also temporary expositions displaying others painters of similar influence.
