The Museu do Sao Roque is placed at the entrance of the Bairro Alto district, next to the church of Sao Roque. This small museum houses the most important in the world collection of Roman sacred art from the 18th century. The exhibition includes the historical paintings and religious objects related to Igreja de Sao Roque.

The most interesting on the display are:

Portuguese paintings from 16th to 18th century,
an impressive collection of Baroque silver,
brilliant 18th century Italian collection of vestments,
Roman objects of religious worship including the Capela de Sao Joao Baptista,
other objects from the Chapel of St. John the Baptist.
