Shopping in Lisbon

Apart of being a great destination for those who love sightseeing, relax, try new tastes or just make real fun, Lisbon has also many to offer for people who love shopping. In all the city are plenty of shops, from these traditional ones to the large shopping centers, selling everything you can imagine.

The most popular souvenirs and products to buy are: leather and handmade goods, pottery, hand-painted tiles, regional ceramics and textiles, like knitted shawls, embroidery, tablecloths, and certainly, the best gold in whole the country (of 19.2 karats).

The most popular places to make shopping in Lisbon are Avenida da Liberdade, where are located shops of well-known international brands, such as: Armani, Hugo Boss, Ermenegildo Zegna, Carolina Herrera, Louis Vuitton, etc., and the districts of Bairro Alto, Chiado and Baixa. Chiado and Bairro Alto are main places with shops of Portuguese designers, ranging from these most expensive and popular, to these more common and traditional, including the bookstores, alternative fashion and streetwear shops. However, the best area for shopping is Baixa, where you find the majority of unique shops with traditional products.

Every Tuesday and Sunday takes place the famous Feira da Ladra - the flea market in Alfama. You can buy there nearly everything you could imagine.

In Lisbon there are also few large shopping centers. The most popular are: Colombo, Armozens do Chiado (Rua do Carmo 2), Amoreiras (Avenida Duarte Pacheco) and the Spanish - El Corte Inglés.

While doing your shopping you have to also remember, that most of the shops, except big shopping malls, are closed in the midday hours for siesta.
